John Laurens

John Laurens was born in Charleston, South Carolina, on October 28, 1754. An American soldier during the American Revolution, he is best known for his criticisms of slavery. Laurens also was romantically involved with Alexander Hamilton, who later became the first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury.
